I am originally from Northwestern Ontario, and have lived in London, Ontario for the past thirty-five years. I hold an Honors Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Astronomy, and a Bachelor of Education degree (Intermediate\/Senior), both from Western University.  After graduation, I worked as a high school teacher, before returning to Western University to embark on my career as a Learning Specialist, beginning in 2003.  I have been an active member of the Learning Specialists Association of Canada (LSAC) and its predecessor organization, the Learning and Study Skills Association (LASSA), also since 2003.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My work as a teacher provided me with experience helping students from Southwestern Ontario and Nunavut, and my work as a Learning Specialist at Western University provided me with experience helping students from across Canada and around the globe.\u00a0 At Western, I worked with students from a wide range of disciplines, with a significant portion enrolled in science and math programs.\u00a0 I have extensive experience working with students at all levels in their various programs, from those completing their graduate and professional degrees, to those entering first year and making the transition to university learning. I also have significant experience working with individuals diagnosed with learning disabilities and ADHD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During my last four years, I’ve had the great pleasure of working with many students from Western University and the University of Guelph, as well as students attending other Ontario universities and colleges. I’ve also assisted an increasing number of professionals wanting to manage their ADHD symptoms at work, home or both, and increase their efficiency and productivity at work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taking a strengths-based approach, I tailor learning strategies, or strategies for managing ADHD symptoms, to each individual with whom I work.\u00a0 I strive to support students in achieving academic success, and professionals and career-focused individuals in achieving work and life goals.\u00a0 With both groups this may include discussing motivation, mindset, metacognition – developing an awareness and understanding of how you learn – and other supports and resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
