Background<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I began tutoring when I attended teachers’ college. Mathematics and physics were my two areas of concentration. When I began working at Western University in 2003, I switched from tutoring high school math courses to first year college and university math courses. I’ve now been tutoring math for close to 30 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I enjoy helping students for whom math has presented challenges in the past as well as helping students who are seeking to increase their comprehension and fine-tune their problem-solving skills to maximize their success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mathematics 1228A\/B<\/strong> – Methods of Finite Mathematics (Western University)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Permutations and combinations; probability theory. This course is intended primarily for students in the Social Sciences but may meet minimum requirements for some Science modules.1<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mathematics 1229A\/B<\/strong> – Methods of Matrix Algebra (Western University)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Matrix algebra including vectors and matrices, linear equations, determinants. This course is intended primarily for students in the Social Sciences but may meet minimum requirements for some Science modules.1<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Math 1119 Linear Algebra<\/strong>: With Applications to Business (Carleton University)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Introduction to systems of linear equations, geometric interpretation in two and three dimensions, introduction to matrices, vector addition and scalar multiplication, linear dependence, matrix operations, rank, inversion, invertible matrix theorem, determinants.2<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n

MATH 1036<\/strong> – Mathematics in Technology 1 <\/strong>(Fanshawe College)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students explore the following topics: scientific notation, estimation, basic algebra, trigonometry and radian measure applications solutions of right triangles and carry out mathematical applications in Architectural, Civil and Construction Technology.3<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n

MATH 1171<\/strong> – Technical Mathematics<\/strong> (Fanshawe College)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This first level mathematics course for engineering technology programs begins with a review of fundamental concepts including arithmetic operations and concepts in measurement. This is followed by several algebra topics including linear equations, factoring, fractions and quadratic equations. A treatment of trigonometry of right triangles, the trigonometric functions of any angle and of oblique triangles is also included.4<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n

MATH 1052<\/strong> – Business Math<\/strong> (Fanshawe College)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This course provides a review of basic arithmetic and algebra as well as providing students with mathematical tools and concepts needed for other college courses and in future employment.5<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n

MATH 1165<\/strong> – Math Fundamentals<\/strong> (Fanshawe College)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This course enables students to broaden their understanding of real-world applications of mathematics. Students will analyse data using statistical methods; solve problems involving applications of geometry and trigonometry; solve financial problems; simplify expressions; and solve equations.6<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n
